Magnetic excitations in the site-centered stripe phase: Spin-wave theory of coupled three-leg ladders

چکیده
The success of models of coupled two-leg spin ladders in describing the magnetic excitation spectrum of La2−xBaxCuO4 had been interpreted previously as evidence for bond-centered stripes. In a recent article, however, we determined the magnetic coupling induced by the charge stripes between bondor site-centered spin stripes modeled by twoor three-leg ladders, respectively. We found that only the site-centered models order, while the coupling in bond-centered models is insufficient to trigger the quantum phase transition into the magnetically ordered state. We further indicated excellent agreement of a fully consistent analysis of coupled three-leg ladders using a spin wave theory of bond with the experimental data. Here, we provide a full and detailed account of this analysis.

Magnetic excitations in the stripe phase of high-Tc superconductors
The magnetic excitations in the stripe phase of high-Tc superconductors are investigated in a model of spin ladders which are effectively coupled via charged stripes. Starting from the effective single-triplon model for the isolated spin ladder, the quasi-one-dimensional spin system can be described straightforwardly. Very good agreement is obtained with recent neutron scattering data on La15/8...

63 Cu and 170 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) experiments are reported on copper-oxide compounds related to high temperature superconductors that are nearly ideal realizations of spin 1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnets with different geometries of the magnetic interactions: 1 dimensional spin chains, 2 dimensional planes, two coupled chains (two-leg ladder),...

We discuss the magnetic excitations of well-ordered stripe and checkerboard phases, including the high energy magnetic excitations of recent interest and possible connections to the “resonance peak” in cuprate superconductors. Using a suitably parametrized Heisenberg model and spin wave theory, we study a variety of magnetically ordered configurations, including vertical and diagonal siteand bo...

Low-energy excitations in spin2 antiferromagnetic(AF) Heisenberg spin ladders are studied by bosonization and gauge -theoretical description. The AF Heisenberg models on ladders are described by spin2 fermions and the systems are reduced to relativistic gauge theories of fermions by a mean-field type decoupling and linearization of fermion’s dispersion relation near Fermi points. There gauge fi...
متن کاملMagnetic Properties of Zig - Zag Ladders ∗
We analyze the phase diagram of a system of spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chains interacting through a zigzag coupling, also called zigzag ladders. Using bosonization techniques we study how a spin-gap or more generally plateaux in magnetization curves arise in different situations. While for coupled XXZ chains, one has to deal with a recently discovered chiral perturbation, the couplin...
